Because some have never seen nor experienced that kind of chivalry. A lot of our relationships are based upon the examples we have seen from our parents, siblings, etc.

Hey, to each their own. The "open your door" was just a metaphor for showing you respect. But if a woman doesn't want to be respected, that's on her. I have no problem with what a grown person choses to do with themselves. Like you said, it's their legs or body, they can do what they want. But just don't complain when they get treated like trash. You get what you accept.

Maybe she doesn't need someone opening doors for her. Maybe all she needs from a man is sex. All people don't need or want the same things.

Even so, she still should want respect from that man and treated like a lady. Ijs

All women aren't ladies nor do they want to be defined as a lady. And why act like a man has so much power over how you feel about yourself? For some it is important, others couldn't care less as long as she is satisfied. A persons self worth is a personal thing, not what other people tell you you should be willing to accept in order to feel a certain way about yourself.

Just because he opens a door for you doesn't mean he respects you.

When I said "open your door" it was just a metaphor for showing you respect. As a father of two daughters, I always want my daughters to demand their respect. But to each their own. It was just a question, I'm not losing any sleep over what anybody else does with their life. As long as a person is happy with whatever they are doing, that's on them.

I love the replies here. I agree with them all. However, it comes down to her frame of mind. If she's a Queen, she understands the role of the King and will have no problem with him being such. If she feels like she is the king, well...

It seems that some people are trying to debate with me as if I'm wrong. I believe in "to each their own." I'm not judging, just asking the question to spark a conversation that could be helpful for someone. I believe if a person is grown they can do as they wish. Just don't complain when it doesn't turn out the way hoped for.
